The Placebo Effect
About 1/3 of healings from all types of illness is attributed to the Placebo Effect. What is the Placebo Effect? In drug trials, Placebo Effect is generally attributed to 30 - 40% of participants who gain improvements (much to the dislike of Pharmaceutical Companies). Instead of scoffing at or ignoring this powerful and common occurrence, learn what is behind it and how the future of medicine will harness the power of information, the mind and energy to take the placebo effect main stream and make it learnable. Thus a drug that is only just barely performing better than Placebo Effect in trials is actually considered effective enough to continue. If the Placebo Effect is the benchmark for pharmaceutical drug development, then it is THE THING to be understood for solution utilization/development and not something to be dismissed.
"The placebo effect is more than positive thinking — believing a treatment or procedure will work. It's about creating a stronger connection between the brain and body and how they work together," says Professor Ted Kaptchuk of Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, whose research focuses on the placebo effect.
